The reason is that he is a multidimensional poet and, in his poetry, there are multiple layers of meanings. That is why he is considered a complex poet and his poetry is categorized ambiguous. In this article, the same issue has been highlighted and it has been tried to clarify that in Ghalib’s poetry there are not only difficulties in his poetic diction but even there are also difficulties in those couplets which seem apparently simple and easy. The reason of this lies in the mysteriousness of his poetry and to overcome this mysteriousness is not easy.
Muqaddama e shair o shairi” by Altaf Hussain Hali is one of the books which can be called the first recognized book on criticism in Urdu. Before it, we have only sentences which give a hint of “Ta’assurati Tanqeed” (Expressional Criticism) in the context of fasahat o balaghat, ilme uruz, ilme qafia, but Hali took it seriously and theorized the discipline of criticism. He made use of the concepts of Western critics discipline of criticism. He made use of the concepts of Western critics like Milton and maintained the necessity of simplicity, ability and passion in poetry. Similarly he stressed the importance of imagination, the study of the universe and eloquence of words to achieve excellence in poetry. For this purpose, he made his point clear in “Muqaddama e Shair o Shairi” by using many current and new terms. This article will analyze these terms and trops used by Hali in this book in order to highlight the significance of this very first book on literary criticism in Urdu. Hali belonged to the Sir Sayyad school of thought. This school was founded on the purposeful literature. The terms used by Hali revolve around this thought, which accorded literature with the socio_ political and cultural consciousness of the age. Many of these terms are used frequently in Urdu, but Hali has given Urdu literary criticism a new dimension by imparting these terms new meanings. In this connection, it was quite essential to analyze these terms.
Prof. Dr. Muzammil Hussain, Muhammad Iqbal Copyright (c) 2023 Zoraiz https://ojs.mul.edu.pk/index.php/zoraiz/article/view/323 Sat, 30 Dec 2023 00:00:00 +0000 ڈاکٹرآنیماری شمل: ایک درخشاں عہد https://ojs.mul.edu.pk/index.php/zoraiz/article/view/321
In this article, an effort was made to furnish a vivid picture of Schimmel’s life and personality. For this, we focused her childhood, her family background, her teachers and her formal, informal learning at Universities or elsewhere. Besides, her passion for Oriental studies and specifically Islamic learning, Arabic language and Mysticism were thoroughly examined and we also did effort to establish her contact with Sir M. Iqbal and Pakistani Languages. How she was impressed with her teachers and her love for Rumi was given importance. She was used to give lectures on Islam, on its fine arts and Mysticism, world over. She was a glittering personality of twentieth century and she was welcomed by all leading renowned institutions of East and West. People liked to hear her out. With her death, a glittering epoch was ended, unfortunately.
Like every nation we have many cultural and civilizational traditions which result in our unique identity. Fine arts of every region are the reflection of civilization and culture of its inhabitants. Wherever the Muslims went, they impacted the lifestyle and fine arts of that region. These impacts are particularly manifested in the Oneness of Allah and the prophethood of Holy Prophet (PBUH) which make Muslims distinct and unique from other nations. As far as poetry is concerned, its different forms particularly religious forms are full of the above-mentioned aspects. The study of Urdu Naat in relation to civilizational traditions carries great significance. In the present era, it is even more needed because the attacks of non-Islamic civilization can only be stopped in this way. This article highlights the same aspects and in this, the study of Urdu Naat is also made in the same perspective.
Muzaffar Warsi is an honorable poet of Urdu poetry after the creation of Pakistan. Although he wrote splendid verses in different forms of poetry such as Ghazal, but his reputation lies in Naat literature, in which he contributed both in thematic and artistic levels and composed Naat literature on modern standards. In this article, the distinctive features of his Naat literature have been discussed. He benefited from tradition but his individuality lies in novelty. He made diverse topics splendid by presenting them in different styles, eye-catching rhymes and meters. On the basis of this diversity, his Naats are considered distinctive from the Naats of most of his contemporary poets. The researchers and the critics have acknowledged his unique qualities and paid him tribute.
Poetry is that part of literature which ornaments the words and expressions a writer goes through. It is also a medium of expressing one's emotions and feelings. The endeavour of trying to wade through the untrodden path of taking up a new and so far untouched topic is a noteable effort. The theme and topic of my under-writing paper is a genre of literature which is struggling to be established as a permanent genre of poetry in English. An erudite writer and a gifted poet of Urdu and English Mr. Khan Hasnain Aaqib hails from India. He is basically a born poet but his inquisitiveness has inspired him to coin a new term for the poem denoting the praise of the holy prophet Hazrat Muhammad (p.b.u.h).There is an already well established genre of poems in other languages such as Arabic, Persian and Urdu along with some more langauges. This is called NAAT. Hasnain Aaqib coined to term 'Prophiem' for NAAT which seems a welcome-addition to the glossary and lexicon.

This article focuses on the various aspects of the coinage of the term Prophiem as well as the post-introduction reactions of the writers and poets from around the world. The effort has been made to sum up a well researched and well collaborated article to give the impression that the coinage of the term was a long-awaited endeavour and innovation as far as the lexicon of constructive and reformative poetry is concerned. Hasnain Aaqib's innovative gesture seems to have been approved by a good number of poet laureates from the arena of literature and poetry. This paper is also an effort to initiate a constructive and formative dialogue about the Prophiem and the poets who somehow shy aways from organizing themselves as Prophiemist or prophiem writers in absence of a well documented institution and platform.
Dr. Nasir ud Din Ansar Copyright (c) 2023 Zoraiz https://ojs.mul.edu.pk/index.php/zoraiz/article/view/327 Sat, 30 Dec 2023 00:00:00 +0000
